Community/Economic Development
The Laurens CPW works together with the Main Street Laurens, Laurens County Chamber of Commerce and the Laurens County Development Corporation (LCDC) to improve economic development in the surrounding communities by assisting businesses large and small, existing or new. We also help facilitate fundraising events that serve to raise money for these organizations, which in turn is used to boost economic development. Also, several members of the Laurens CPW staff serve on various committees within these organizations and assist with legislative affairs, membership drives, small business affairs, and marketing efforts.
Making our community better for all
While some utility companies send their profits to shareholders in distant cities, the CPW reinvests all its proceeds right here. Every year, the CPW transfers approximately $750,000 to the City of Laurens. These funds help pay for vital services like police and fire safety, as well as improve the quality of life for the citizens of Laurens.
